‘Law is the cement of the society and an essential medium of change.’

It is well accepted proposition that the profession of law is a noble calling, and members of the legal profession occupy a very high status in any society. Since law is the foundation of every society or a nation, legal education of the people is a sine qua none. Significance of legal education in a democratic country cannot be over-emphasized. It is a pivotal duty of every citizen to know the law of the land. Ignorance of law is not innocence, but a sin which cannot be excused. Legal education is imperative not only to produce good lawyers, but also cultured law abiding citizens who are inculcated with the concept of human values and human rights. The law being a tool for the social engineering, legal education can be regarded as an instrument for the social design. Keeping that in mind, Ajmal Foundation took the lead and established Ajmal Law College in the newly constituted Hojai district. The college is approved by the Bar Council of India, New Delhi and is affiliated to Gauhati University. It is offering both three year LL.B and five year B.A.LL.B courses. Ajmal Law College is a new addition to the Ajmal Group of Colleges. The college strives to achieve excellence in the field of legal education at par with the bench mark setup by Ajmal Group of Colleges in providing quality education. ‘Ajmal for Education, Education for All’ is the mission statement of Ajmal Foundation. This noble mission is wedded to provide opportunity to the student community to acquire knowledge, and inculcate values. With the hard work and dedication of our faculty members, staffs and students, we will be able to achieve our mission to make Ajmal Law College, a centre of excellence, in the field of legal education in the state of Assam.
